Who I Am

My name is Giovanni Scozzafava — everyone calls me Gisko. Creative, histrionic, decidedly self-centred and madly passionate about photography. I was born in Calabria and, after living all over Italy, I chose to come back: because it is the land I know best, and because its weddings have a soul I never found anywhere else.

My background in philosophy and semiotics shapes the way I photograph: I reject trivial images and look for narrative, sign, meaning. Every wedding is a text to be read and rewritten in photographs — candid, never posed, full of emotion.
